So you want to know what kinds of things treasures I found at Gold Rush Days??? I usually am searching for vintage jewelry items and smaller treasures that I can incorporate into my designs. I am particularly interested in old hardware, keys, vintage brooches and vintage religious, to name a few. This year I sparked an interest in some nautical treasures and old hotel items. Finally the pictures are here and you can see for yourselves. Click any image to enlarge. Comments are always appreciated. Enjoy!

Gold Rush Days 2012 Part II

I promised my readers I would share pics of my loot from Gold Rush Days. Today's pictures are 2 of my favorite finds from the weekend. The first few pics I am sharing, I was told are of vintage boy scout projects. If anyone can tell me different I would love to know. There is a wolf, a lion and a bear. I just LOVE these weird little animal plaques. I knew instantly that I had to have them. I scooped these up for $12.00 for all three. What a bargain! The woman who sold them to me giggled slightly when I bought them. I have big plans for these, I will post on that in the near future.

My other favorite find was this sweet little vintage poodle music box. It's quite adorable, however the music doesn't play. I am going to tinker with it and see if I can get it to work.

Hope that you have enjoyed seeing a few of my treasures. Stay tuned for more loot pictures!

Gold Rush Days 2012 Part1

Last weekend was my third annual trip to Gold Rush Days in Oronoco, MN. This year a few other family members decided to come along, usually it is just me and mom and my cart. I didn't take too many pics this year, but here are a few from Saturday. Stay tuned for pics on what treasure I found.

Here I am getting ready to start

Just a Girl and Her Horse Necklace

Just a girl and her horse! I have taken a sweet vintage Crown domino and soldered a beautiful vintage woman with a horse picture under beveled glass. The pendant is 1" x 2" and is attached to beautiful handmade hand formed and hand soldered chain that I have added a rich patina to. Hangs about 11" from the neck down. One of a kind necklace. Find this in my NEW ETSY SHOP Vault31 by clicking HERE. And P.S. I finally got a new camera for my birthday!!!! These photos were shot with my new camera. I am so happy. Finally I will have some decent pictures to share with you :)

Introducing "The Katy"

I made this necklace from an old faucet handle with hot on one side and cold on the other. While I was making it I couldn't get the Katy Perry song "Hot n' Cold" out of my head, so I guess I'll call this one "The Katy." For the girl who changes her mind frequently, this necklace is reversible.

Chandelier Makeover

One of my summer projects (that I've finally completed!!) was to makeover this chandelier that mom found me from a thrift store (thanks mom!).  It wasn't that I didn't like the original black color, it was just that in my dining room black would be too dark. I decided to silver leaf the chandelier.

Here is me with the original chandy. First, I had to give it a good cleaning.

 An up close picture.
Here is the start of the silver leafing. It is quite messy, but very fun. I wanted my chandelier to have some texture and a little distressed look to it.

Here it is all silver leafed. I spray painted the top and chain/cord with silver spray paint.

An up close look at the middle. Some of the original black shows through. I like how this looks.

After sealing the entire chandelier with several coats of project sealer, I added vintage crystals from my stash. First, I had to punch holes in each of the metal bases. Then I hand wire wrapped each crystal (15 total).

Hanging the chandelier was sort of a pain, but we managed (thanks again mom!).

Overall, there were several steps in completing this chandelier, but I had all summer and was in no rush. I like the final results. Maybe I will add a few more crystals to the bottom. What do you think?
