Mr. Fox Necklace

It seems I have been away for a bit my friends, but trust me I have been busy making lots of things. I just haven't had the time to share on my blog and I have been using my new Facebook page out of sheer laziness and convenience. I have been collecting vintage watches for awhile and making little bits with them here and there. The pile has grow pretty big so I decided it's time (HA) to start creating! Here is an assemblage necklace I recently made. It consists of my favorite shades of purples, pinks, silvers and aged brass. I have attached an adorable and clever fox aged brass stamping and a vintage ladies upcycled wrist watch. You can follow me on Facebook now through the link on my blog or by clicking HERE.

A Sweet Owl Save

I love owls! They are interesting and wise creatures. They happen to be quite trendy right now too. At work yesterday Dani and Bill got to rescue an injured Barred owl. He had been hit by a car - so sad! The motorist did stop and render aid as well.  The owl was brought to the Raptor Center at the University of MN. The Raptor Center is "part of the University of Minnesota College of Veterinary Medicine, The Raptor Center rehabilitates more than 700 sick and injured raptors each year, while helping to identify emerging environmental issues related to raptor health and populations. An internationally renowned education facility, The Raptor Center trains veterinary students and veterinarians from around the world to become future leaders in raptor medicine and conservation. In addition, The Raptor Center reaches more than 200,000 people annually through its unique public education programs and events" (Raptor center website click HERE). Hopefully the little guy will have a good recovery. Check out the Raptor Center it's a neat place! The owl reminded me of a few necklaces I made a couple of weeks ago so I thought I would share. Enjoy!

A New Twist on Bullets with Bling

I've been hard at work in the vault working on some new creations. I recently purchased a Dremel workstation and I love it! I've been able to do so much more cutting and sanding. I started cutting down some bullet shell casings just leaving the top. I filled the center hole where the primer once was with something much prettier - a genuine Swarovski crystal. I then attached them to different types of nickel free earring posts. Of course then I had to make some adorable earring cards to complement these pretties. These will be available soon at Farmhouse Inspired. Ooh la la! Love!

Soldered Pendant Classes

Hello everyone. I am excited to announce that I will be teaching several soldered glass pendant classes at Farmhouse Inspired. In this 2 hour class students will learn basic soldering iron techniques and we will make two 1 x 1" square glass pendant keepsakes necklaces. I will also provide either a ball chain or ribbon necklace for the pendants. These are double sided pendants and students may bring their own photo or image already cut to size or they may use collage art provided by me. Class dates will be offered November 7, 14 & 21, and December 9 & 16. All classes are from 6-8pm. The cost is $45.00 per class. A minimum of 2 students is needed to hold a class and a maximum of 4, (due to the hot soldering irons, under 18 years old only accepted upon instructor approval and must be signed up with a parent or guardian). These make great gifts just in time for the holidays!! If you are interested in signing up call Farmhouse Inspired at 715-386-0665.

No Deer were harmed

No deer were harmed in the making of these sweet little creations. My latest necklaces are made from deer sheds. I drilled holes in them and dipped the ends of them in a lovely gold paint. I then wire wrapped and soldered them onto upcycled long vintage gold chain and finished each one off with a vintage gold fabric remnant. Find these for sale at Farmhouse Inspired.

The Treasure Hunter Necklace

This adorable little bottle necklace was inspired by my love of treasure hunting. It features a tiny glass bottle that I have soldered shut. Inside the bottle is a vintage map remnant, an itsy bitsy skeleton key and tiny gold and pearl colored beads. I hand soldered the links and connected it to a cream colored sari silk ribbon. Makes ya wanna head out for a hunt doesn't it??? Find this necklace for sale at Farmhouse Inspired.

Bottle Hunt

My first memory of treasure hunting was of antique bottles. When I was a kid I used to play in the alley with my brothers. I remember one of our neighbors was doing some excavating to the hill on his property that backed up against the alley. One day while playing I noticed something sticking out of the freshly moved dirt. Of course I had to inspect it closer, and when I did, I discovered an antique bottle. I was fascinated by the bottle and began digging there almost daily looking for more treasure. This didn't last long as the homeowner did not appreciate this and chased me away several times. Ha ha. Recently a good friend told me about all the bottles on his property that used to be a mink farm. We decided to go bottle hunting and I found several adorable little bottles. They needed a good cleaning. In fact, one of them was an ant home. I don't think the ants appreciated me uprooting them. In honor of my favorite holiday Halloween, I decided to turn them into mini poison bottles using images I turned into self adhesive labels from the The Graphics Fairy. They still need a little tweaking. I'm going to add different twine and ribbon to each and find some more little corks for stoppers. Pretty cute huh?
Here's a few we found
